SHIFT+MMB = Chaos in AUTOCAD [Resolved]
-
Hi guys,
I am facing a problem. (i am sure u did too once.. )
SHIFT+M(iddle) M(ouse) B(button) = Pan in SketchUp , while
SHIFT+MMB = Chaos in AUTOCAD (3dOrbit in Autocad) .
SO, anyone else feeling the pain i am goin thru when using the two progams simulatneously? i keep on orbiting my huge 2d plans in autocad. I certainly dont want to change how this works in SU.. but i would certainly want to "SWITCH OFF" this function in ACAD. anyone got any ideas how one would go about doing this????
thanks and regrads,
JJ -
haha- I had that same problem
try typing CUI, then going to "mouse buttons" then clearing the assignment to your button 3

u da man!!!! thanks dude.. u have no idea how happy i am and my undo command thanks u very much (he was getting a real beating LOLZ)..

Not to turn this into a cad post, but....Something else you could try is setting the mbuttonpan system variable to 0 instead of 1. It takes the middle mouse button and sets it to bring up the osnaps menu when hit (its transparent to so it works within all commands). It's the first thing I do after a new install of ACAD. New users hate it but for us old time cad users it just makes cad feel right. After I mapped my AutoCAD pgp file to mimic SU (Yes I actually did) that helped to. Unfortunately you will have to resort to typing p everytime you wish to pan in cad.

thanks fossa.. yet another command in autocad i wasnt aware of.. this has been an interesting day for me!
mucho gracias amigo! -
I have been fighting this too, especially as I like to use the mmb to pan in Acad, and the ability to constrain the panning with Shift. Now, it matters in which order you press:
Shift+MMB=lots of dirty words
MMB+Shift=panning constrained to vertical or horizontal.
Have to look into killing the Orbit command.Anssi

Thanks for bringing this up its nice to know your in good company...IE I have been tormented by this in ACad as well. I wonder if it's possible to alter the mouse button assignments specifically for autocad within the mouse control panel?
