I found an interesting woodworking forum and wanted to make a comment. It said I had to register, which I did. It now tells me I have no access to the forum, even when I try and get it back from my history

You need to sign up to the woodworking user group in your user control panel (UCP.)
if you go UCP->user groups and then tick the woodworking one, scroll to the bottom og the page and click 'sign up', or whatever it says.

I've signed up for Woodworking about a half dozen times. Each time I go back to my Memberships, it is unchecked.
And where does it show up when you have successfully joined? In the Forums Index? In the GoTo selector?

Are you clicking the 'submit' button in the bottom right hand corner, after youve selected the woodworking usergroup?
Once youve been signed up, it should show up in the forum index.
