Snap to
-
- Draw a new line
- start another line somewhere close and not that you can snap to it [green, blue, red and black snaps]
- now make new layer and lock the layer that the first line is on.
- start a new line and note that you can't snap to the original line [now on a locked layer]
This is what i mean, Juan. Even if we toggle 'object snap' off you still can't snap to it.....
We should be able to, period. We shouldn't be restricted to objects snapping only on active or un-locked layers....Any 'Skooglers' here to comment?

SU layer is used for visibility control only. How are you locking layers and for what reason?
-
Thanks Ridix,
You're right, Layers are solely for controlling visibility....But SU and Layout gives you the option to lock layers to assist in you working; so you don't pick an object / group / component when you don't want to....
In Layout, [which is what this thread is about] you may have multiple views of a model all overlapping each other.... If you put each view on it's own layer and lock it then you won't have this problem...
My point is that when a view of even an object drawn in Layout is on a layer that is locked, you can't snap to it.....

This problem seems fixed in the next release. Make sure you're signed up for
the beta (pre-release, not the current version) to confirm we fixed it. -
how does one sign up for the beta release?. is there one yet?
baz -
People get invited, there is no sign-up.
-
i'd love to get on that invite list.
I have trouble with snap as well. Often times i can't get objects or windows to size exactly as i like. It seems as though the setting do not allow granularity of window size beyond say a few centimeters in some cases. This is problematic when one is trying to be exact with placement of scrapbook items and or text positioning.
my two cents,
Larry
