At the risk of turning the SCF CB into Jackson's Autocad Questions Corner, does anyone know if there's a command for excluding zoom commands from the undo list? I'm so sick of Ctrl-Z-ing and the view flying around the model instead of actually undoing an action (or undoing an action and then flying back undoing other actions in the visual confusion). Autodesk call it Intellizoom; I won't say what I call it.

I Googled it (just ended up at a now-defunct Autodesk link) and UNBELIEVABLY and yet because we're dealing with Autodesk somehow ENTIRELY BELIEVABLY, a search for "intellizoom" in Acad help files returns zero results.

      Thanks in advance,

      Jackson

Nope, It has always been that way.

The only thing you can do is go into your Options on the "User Preferences" tab in the "Undo/Redo" section and check the option to "Combine zoom and pan commands". This will cause your zoom and pan commands to be combined into one Undo. So if you initiate a command, pan and zoom around 20 times and then initiate another command, you only have to hit Undo twice to get back to the first command.

Thanks Stephen! What a shame you can't turn this (useless IMO) feature off, but your tip should be a huge help in any case.

          Regards,

Go to options-->user preferences then there is a section on undo/redo. Check off the combine zoom and pan commands. I don't know what system variable this is controlling but that should take the zoom actions out of the undo/redo stack.

This was introduced in 2007 I think. So if your running an older version this option won't be there.

              Oh, man you're a life-saver... unchecking it now 😄

*Realising that, since the last format I didn't install AutoCad so,

              installing; unchecking 😉

Thanks for the info guys, I found unticking the "combine zoom and pan" box helped a lot.

i always cared about that too.
and cannot understand how the users have not complained.
maybe they still have not got used to the tree dimensions way of working.
maybe they start asking now once Autocad´s 3D is getting better and better.

                  ,))),

I kind of like it because the undo zoom takes me right to the spot where I had made the changes, so its easier for my mind to remember the work flow I had gone through, so I make sure to undo exactly what I want. Normally I zoom in a bit to delete something, so this zooms right back in to where I had zoomed before so I can see it undelete. That being said though, it does seem like they could come up with a way to make it a toggle to remember zoom commands in the undo queue.
