Exporting Animations - Low Res Only?
-
When exporting animations to .avi (using scenes) I don't seem to have any options for setting the resolution. What I get is a super low-res file that looks horrible.
In another forum, I saw someone's screenshot of a save dialogue box that included choices for setting the format (which gave better options for resolution). That option certainly doesn't appear on my computer.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi keyon,
Are you saying you don't have the Options button on the export window at all?

I'll have to look and see how the exact labels read, but I know I'm not getting choices for things like "the Web" "CD publishing" etc (like I saw on another forum).
I can change the frame rate and the overall dimensions, but that's about it.
Am I missing something in the export options?
thanks

Also have alook at the different codecs. You can even export uncompressed mpg files(say at a higher resolution) or standalone images which you can post process later.
If you turn antialiasing on (in the export options), you can have less choppy edges though export time may increase. I'd also turn off profiles in the style dialogue.

Thanks for your help...
I'll take another look at the options and see what I have. -
Gaieus...
I found an option for "full frames - (uncompressed)"
But even with anti-aliasing on, I think the edges are still pretty darn fuzzy...especially for something that is vector-based in origin. Also, the 12 second .avi video Sketchup created for me is no larger than 2 MB, which seems a little small based on my experience.
Thanks

If you could upload a video sample that might help.
If I need a good quality movie, I like to switch from avi to .png or .jpg and it will export a series of sequential images. I export them at 2 times the size I actually want the video. Then I shrink them all in photoshop using a batch command. Then I put them together using Adobe Premiere, but other software does it too.
But a small clip of your video might answer some questions too.
