Almost to the point of giving up . . ..
-
David, I use LO often and don't seem to have a problem with it. Post the files [SU and LO] here and I'll have a look...
I assume you are updating the model in LO through File>Document Setup>References? -
One more issue I am having tho'. .. when I wnat to move objects around smoothly it keeps wanting to snap to some invisible geometry or grid. I have object and grid snaps turned off, but that doesn't seem to help. Bubbles, notes, etc seem to snap off in any direction, but they don't move just straight accross the page, inferences don't seem to help. So far, I am not too happy with LO
I am working on an 18 x 24 sheet of paper. When I cut and paste objects into a new file with a standard sheet, it seems to flow fine? is this the problem?
any ideas?
Thx,
D

Hi,
I was finding a similar problem with LO. I try to resize the window of an SU view and it pops too far or back to the original position. I really haven't made much headway with it.
Layout should be made to be like other long-standing 2d graphic programs. You need to freely move objects to just where you want them or it's a painful waste of time. There seem to be two kinds of LO users. Those with no problem with LO and those who don't see what the use is of such a challenged application. And the two types seem to exist in different realities. Here's hoping for v.7 improvements. Also I don't get the difficulty in producing larger sheets. We print vector and raster images on our plotters all the time, but in the BaseCamp discussions, everyone seems to believe a larger LO drawing will take hours or days to plot.

David,
Try turning both object snap off, then you shouldn't get any inferencing at all.pbacot,
I never print directly from my LO drawing; I always export to PDF. That way I know what my file size is and what DPI setting are.....Hope this helps.
PS: Just to let you know I too have issues with LO but until it is formally released [drop the beta tag] we have what we have. I just work with what i have for the moment.....

Hence my problem. I have all the snaps turned off, and it still wants to snap to something--no smooth navigation. From the Basecamp workshop it was stated that LO works best on the smaller sheet size, and I am trying to use 18x 24 (which doesn't seem excessive) to me, but nevertheless, pretty agrivating. I don't want to give up on it. LO is a great tool--i am just struggling with it.
Thanks for the help.

One other thing; check your unit settings under Document>Units. I have mine set to millimeters and have the option to set 0.01mm precision....
If your units are set to something like 10mm [if you use metric], this will also force the mouse to jump around....
-
thanks for the tip. I will check that out.
DEDIT. . . .you know what? That helped a lot! Thanks Mate! As usual the problem was with me.

i always work setting my units to 1 meter.
and have not got many troubles yet.
though i have used the program mainly for composition of photos. -
Thanks Juan, that would be suffice for large scale comosition as you say you do....
And make things fast to I would imaginge! -
i cant understand why you need to be so presice, Utiler, 0,01 mm,
...what for ? -
You're right Juan I meant 0.1mm.....
My work generally presented on A3 landscape. I apply a 10mm grid, divided into 5. [2mm minor grids]
This way when I don't need to snap to grid I know I am still drawing in 1mm increments.....
