Flats

does look kind of 'flat'..haha..where's the lighting??
-
Nice in a graphical way.
Somehow your renders do remind me of Bauhaus graphical experiments like the ones of Mohology Nagy.
Pure geometrical forms, unfolded 3D looking as 2D. -
Intimidating. I'm reminded of a certain Aphex Twin video's general setting and color scheme.
How about taking it all the way and putting some threatening clouds behind the buildings? or even changing the point of view slightly and having the tops of the buildings "hazed" a bit, as if they were just poking into the bottom layer of clouds? (This is an effect I observe often from my window, looking towards the high-rise buildings downtown.)

there is an enigmatic twist as i look at the imagecan i view it at a higher resulution.. its like a bullet view from a certain spot cool rendering sir

I didn't want a vividly lit image. The original render (15000 x 9000, before I started cropping) does reveal some more, errr, subtleties and details.

Pure geometrical forms, unfolded 3D looking as 2D.They're not supposed to look entirely flat (and they don't at full res) - I want them to be "in between". Not completely 3d, not completely flat, and neither completely 'natural' (realistic) or completely 'graphical'. But you're thinking in the right direction.

"Come To Daddy"? I see your point about the clouds and the haze, but adding those would make the images too photoreal. At least, in my opinion. The same goes for changing the pov (lowering the cam?) - too realistic.

Hm. The bullet thing's unintentional. There's no anecdote or story being hinted at.
Gents, tell me, are my verticals off? I want them completely straight, but I just cannot tell anymore, as I've been staring at this image for way too long now. And does anyone of you fine youngsters know about a ruby that lets you set the cam height?
Y'all have a nice day.

They seem okay to me too in PS. Maybe I need a break.

stinkie, simply use the "position camera" tool in SU, click somewhere in the stage to position yourself and then type your desired view height into the VCB...
[Edit] wow, just tried out, what I wrote - you can do awesome elevator-animations with that trick []

Yeah, I discovered that in the meantime. I'm always waaaaaay behind everyone else.
@ Modelhead: muchos gracias! That tool is gonna come in very handy! (I've been pressing a ruler against my screen the last couple of days ... )

Anyway, that ruler is indeed very handy (I've been using it for years)

I find it just as easy to pan and drag my model to the side of the screen to ensure verts vertical
