Indigo Render advice
-
I tried posting in the Indigo Sketchup forum but so far no replies. If there are any Skindigo users here I'd appreciate your advice.
I've tried Skindigo on small test files and it works ok but on larger files I get a crash more often than not. Attached is the error message on a recent 16MB file I tried. I've got Windows XP, 4Gb Ram and a core 2 duo E6850 processor so the spec is ok. Is there something wrong with the way I've set up my materials?

Could you post up the file?
have you tried applying a different material? if that doesnt work try copying the model in to another file. Something might have corrupted in the odl file.

Thanks for the reply Remus. I can't actually find 'image 10' in my materials. It's also not just this model but quite a few of the larger files I have that crashes it. Possible it's a component common to them all.
If you want to view the file you can download it from here:

I had a quick look at your file but i couldnt find why it was giving the image10 error. Another thing to try is to just export your scene as an IGS (plugins->skindigo->export scene.)
This should give you a scene file, a settings file and a materials folder. If you open up the settings file in notepad, or something similar, you might be able to add a new material in called image1o. Its a bit of a stab in the dark really.
The other thing i did notice in your scene is that youve got a lot of reversed faces. These wont render properly in indigo. too see which ones they are, go view->face style->monochrome. All the blue faces are reversed. To flip them just right click the offending face and click reverse face.

Thanks for taking a look Remus. I'll try your suggestions when I get a minute. Thanks also for pointing out the reversed faces. I'm normally quite careful about that, but I forgot that I created the house models in another application (Arcon) which has a tendency to reverse faces after exporting.
By the way I thought that the other application could be the issue but I tried the scene without the houses with the same result. I might try a process of elimination and reneder it without various components until I track down the culprit.

Hi Kenny,
Sorry for not responding on the Indigo forums. A couple things that could be causing you problems with respect to using Indigo
- You cannot have duplicate material names in your SketchUp scene. The scene that you posted has 'Color_000' twice
- Are you using instancing? If so, make sure you do not have light emitting materials or exit portal materials inside instances.
If you are still having trouble with certain scenes, please post them here or on the Indigo forums. That is the easiest way for me to figure out the problem.
