Mike, you really need to smile more.

Todd, it was really that much work manually but automating it would be a good thing. Doing it for a single scene is really no big deal but to do this for multiple scenes would be tedious at best. I made an image export with Extensions on and Profiles off. Then I switched those settings and created a watermark using the just exported image as an overlay. Here's another example.
The problem is that the white areas in the overlay have a masking effect on the model. Now, if it was possible to export the watermark image as a PNG and make the white areas transparent (is that alpha adjustment?) before making the watermark, this wouldn't be a problem.
As an auotmated thing I could see something along the lines of ADO, exporting images for each scene. Then those images would be imported to make watermark styles that are applied to the associated scenes. Might be a good time to get up for a cuppa.

styles->edit->edge->extension
or were you thinking of having it as actual geometry?
edit: re-read your post and see what you mean now.

If you use an image editor which has layers, set the layer property to multiply. White is ignored while the lines remain.

Yes, that can be done manually. The point though is to hopefully automate this with a plugin. I expect the problem with automating it is getting the white to be made transparent since that doesn't seem to be available in SU.
