First day with SketchUp and I think I broke it
-
Hello,
Just started using SketchUp today. Everything seemed to be going well. I made a simple object, added some colors. I saved it, shut the computer down, then came back to it tonight and all the colors are gone.
when "open"ing the file, I can see the preview, and it looks just like it did this afternoon.
But when I load it, It is just a wireframe type picture.I tried to create another Sketch from a blank page. and I get the same thing. I can draw a rectangle, and pull it up to make a 3d shape. But the surfaces are transparent and thing don't work right. If I try to make a hole through a box for example, it just keeps going (the hole starts at surface where I create the circle, but it stretches out the other side of the cube, not ending on the other side of the cube as it should.
Is there some option that needs to be turned off or on? I love the program so far, but it's now broken.
btw - running the software on Windows Vista

Ok, I fixed it....I had been fighting with it for an hour, and finally 5 minutes after I posted the question, I figured it out.
I turned off "Hardware Acceleration" in the OpenGL tab of preferences. Everything is ok now.

Im not sure if youve tried this yet, but try turning hardware acceleration on but turning of fast feedback. If it works this is generally a better solution and will make US run faster.
As for pushing things through walls thats just a 'feature' of SU. To make sure it cuts through you need to get an inference on the opposite wall, just look for the little dot...
