Google Sites

Google sites is open to the public. If you need a place to host some pages and files, or collaborate on a site, it may be just what you need.

Hm... Interesting. I was immediately going to create a site called (whatever is before)/gaieus but it said the name is taken. But then there is no such site.
Plus I cannot create a site with my default gmail account. Hm...
Anyway, thanks for the news!

I got the same thing with FormFonts...the name appears to be taken, but it just returns a 404 error when you type it in the address bar.

To me it seems that somehow these sites are connected to otrher google accounts and they seem to be taken.
Sigh... Anyway, I build my own sites manually most of the times...

Hey, cool! I got: http://sites.google.com/site/solosplace/
Nothing there however, I suck at web design stuff, actually just thinking about it gives me tooth ache.

I see in the edit function you can add attachments, now this will probably sound silly to the techie guys that know web crap but how much space are we allocated, can I use this site for say a free model site (free for folks to download)?

Attached files and uploaded images are currently limited to 10 MB. Each domain is limited to 10 GB in total size with Premier and Education Edition domains receiving 500 MB per user beyond the initial quota.

which is the main difference with google pages?

pages is like the light part of sites (... think of it, it is true )
in sites you can have attachments and more modules (spreadsheats, docs, gadgets, ...) -
Just out of curiosity, I created 3 sites - now it won't let me create the site I really wanted! It says you can't create any sites at this time, try again later. It's been a full day, so maybe I need to wait longer.
