Hello

Hi I'm Jay and I doing my masters in architecture. I guess I joined to learn more about sketchup as I use it everyday but I don't actually really know a lot about it - something I want to get good at this summer. Here is something I am working on now. It's a SU model taken into photoshop (I got round to learning how to use photomatch!), with rendering with the paintbrush tool/graphics tablet and some textures.
Take it easy!

Hi Jay and welcome "aboard"!
Really nice project I can tell (though it's a bit dark for me and therefore cannot see all the details that could really be seen in the model).
What exactly is the project about (or are you only experimenting with something)?
-
Hi Gaieus, the project explores the idea of growing food (urban agriculture) in inner city areas and what it means to the community - with rising oil prices and other factors such as China and India's rising demand for meat, food prices are being driven up. It may become a necessity to grow your own within the next 20 years, so the project looks at how it can be done. The building pictured is an old victorian school, which I have stripped out and inhabited with another building. The idea is that food grown within a 10 minute radius of the building will be brought there and it is stored and consumed. I modeled the school and my additions in Sketchup based on a measured survey and photos (I'm pleased I wasn't that far off without entirely accurate information). I basically use the model to do all my drawings with, from the visual above to exploded isometrics (I need to find an axonometric view script).

It sounds interesting (however quite pessimistic at the same time).
As for the axonometric view, I can't remember a plugin (however that doesn't mean anything because I have never needed it so certainly havent looked either).
You can try at the Ruby section below.

Hi Jordan and welcome.
Project is looking good and that looks like some nice Photoshop work

Hi Dylan,
Thanks for your comments, FYI the building pictured is the old Sharrow Junior School.

Thats interesting, the Practice I work for recently designed the replacement Sharrow School, although it was a project I was not involved in
