    Hi
I am a newbie to Sketchup and trying out things. But couldn't figure out that how to view the drawing at its actual size within sketchup? Example: In MS Word, just do the zoom to 100% then you know that it is the actual physical size of document.

How do I achieve similar 100% view within sketchup?

    Please advice. Thanks

    Pankaj

You could always do it the old fashioned way and just measure a distance on the screen, so say you have a line 1cm long in SU, you could jsut keep zooming in/out untill the line is 1cm long on the screen.

I guess so. But it seems like a very basic thing. How can they miss it?

Is it part of pro version? I will be surprised if it is.. 😞

        Thanks anyway.

there might be some way of doing it, but i wouldnt be surprised if it didnt exist. I suppose as SU is meant largely for arch viz type stuff you wouldnt in theory need it for to do real life scales.

Modeling in SketchUp uses real world sizes, so you could never view a house, for example, on your screen at actual size (unless you have a very big screen or a very small house model). Rather, you need to utilize the print to scale option wherein you assign a scale factor (say 1/4" = 1 foot depending on the paper size your printer can use). The print preview command will show you what you will get.

Check out the help files on printing, and remember that print to scale only works with perspective turned off in one of the standard othographic view.

Basically the view in SU is like looking out of a window. There is no such thing as "actual size" in that, and inversely, everything has its actual size all the time.

Following up on what was said above regarding printing to scale, to turn off Perspective, under the Camera Menu, select instead Parallel Projection. In effect, perspective views do not have a reference to a scale; orthographic and oblique projections do.

                  Hope this helps.

                  Cheers,
