      Hi Guys,

Probably a very simply one. How do you create a component that cuts away from walls for instance, trying to make a window component that cuts through a wall thickness.

      Many thanks in advance

j_, if you mean a component that cuts through a wall with two faces (i.e. has thickness), you can't. SU components can cut an opening in only one plane.

If you want a window component that cuts through only one plane, simply model the window and when done choose it with the area command, go to edit and choose make component. Remember, a component can also contain other components. If your window has multiple panes of glass the same size, you just need to model one and create a component of it.

The workaround can be to use two components and either move them here and there together as described in this topic or make a 3rd component of them as described by Susan (linked in the above topic at the end of the tut). In this latter case the gluing plane needs to be carefully placed and the component exploded at the end.

Edit - and well, I'm moving this topic to the SU forum since this forum is for sharing component.

And maybe the "cutting windows script" may help ?

                Hi all!

Didier: Thanks a lot for your work!! I'm a obsesive fan of you!! hahahaha!!

One question: ¿can you traslate the plugin into other languajes, for example in spanish, please?
I try it, but it's compiled, and I don't know how traslate a compiled file.

Thanks in advance and best regards.

                  Antuan,
This woud take a ".strings" file. I'm used to develop in french and english without providing easy translation possibilities. It's a mistake. I'll think of it in the future...
