      Hi,
I am a linux user and wanted to view some hypercosm demos on my firefox browser. However it seems that hypercosm isnt working yet on linux (even though it works for firefox on windows). I was just wondering whether there are plans of porting hypercosm to linux. I think hypercosm could become a mainstream 3d applet for browsers in the future, but for this to happen, it needs to be able to run on all platforms. Any thoughts?

      Oliver

        Hi Oliver,

According to the developer, Abe Megahed, they are working on a Mac version first (of all). Until it is developed, I doubt that they start a new development - although you are certainly right about its capabilities and possibilities.

          Oliver,

Hi. I'm sorry, but there are no current plans to support Linux, although that could change if we receive requests for Linux support. We supported Linux from about 1999 through about 2001, but there just wasn't enough interest in a Linux based player to continue supporting the platform.

From a technical standpoint, there are no major issues in supporting Linux again, it's just a matter of time and resources since it's another platform that we need to maintain and test as web browsers and operating systems continue to evolve.
