Dumb questions about Ruby scripts.
-
If you have a ruby script(Soap skin and bubble) and it expires, are there any limitations to what you already created. Will the ruby geometry still show up, once it already has been made? Will adding textures to the ruby script have any effect after the time has expired?
Are there any cool plugins for textures that don't come with SU free version. I want grass and cement, ans maybe glass/plexiglass?
Does the writer of the SSB tool want SU to buy the ruby, or maybe sell it to users?
Although I am between fulltime jobs at the monment, I think I'd be willing to pay a reasonable or affordable amount for this tool. I think it is great and would like to thank the author for a job well done!

Its just the ruby itself which is effected, not anythin created with it.
As for the textures, if you want particular ones the best thing to do is make thme yourself. As for the grass, if its for rendering/final output of a modle, it might be worth checking out bantam 3D, it produces very good 3d grass, but its very high poly.

Are there any youTube videos or tutorials on the newbie forum list that shows how to make your own textures.
Is Bantam 3d an expensive program?Nevermind, I'll do a google search for the application!

bantam 3d is free.
Making your own textures is easy, all you need is a picture of the material you want to turn in to a texture. At the most basic level, you then just use the import function in sketchup to import the image as a texture and apply it to a face. You can then use the materials browser to drag it into one of the permanent materials folders.
If you want to get a bit more advanced, you usually try and make the texture seamless, this means that you try nad make it so that the texture can be repreated endlessly without having any visible seams.
As an example, this texture is seamless:
because if i tile it lots of times, like this:
you dont get a seam (well, there is a bit of a seam, but i tihnk thats because the edges dont line up completely, so its not perfectly seamless.)

Seems Bantam3D not yet available

See our "Materials link resources" for literally thousands of great materials.
Also there are some nifty little programs (I also have at home) with which you can create your own tilable brick/stone textures (even with bumpmaps). When I'm home, I'll post the name/link (keep forgetting it - wel, I1m old...)
As for SSB; it is still a WIP (I guess) and every version is released separately (while the old ones expire). This is not the first version I have already. I don't know when / if a final version will be released and whether it will be commercial or free. Certainly it would be worth a few bucks even if not free.
