Solo,
Although I live in the USA, I'm having a hard time understanding the purpose of this group. Obviously, it's not so we can speak our own language. Would you mind explaining?
Thanks,
Voder

So do I actually, I never started the group only the thread. as for speaking the same languages.... I am in Texas and Spanish is gaining in volume.
Unlike language groups these geographical groups are more for social reasons, the USA is too large for this to work IMO, maybe if it were broken up in States, then again Texas is still too large for any real social possibility.
But come football season we may have a place to post our fantasy teams.

Actually it was an Idea that I threw out there. Originally it was to be a "list" of contact information...ie. SketchUp User group, Spokane Washington, meets the First Monday of every month at (Location), Contact )Person) at (Phone #).
It was originally a physical get togather time and place to share SketchUp stuff. They have them in many cities for other programs.

Matte is correct with his explanation.
This is an area for connecting with people in your local area.
It is not designed as a general place to chat, the Corner Bar is their for that.My thread in the LAUG Forum explains the basics:

The USA group sounds like a good idea - my name is Sean, and I am from Surprise, AZ. I have been doing 3D modelling and design for a little over a year and half. Please feel free to visit my website, or look in the galleray section for examples of my work. Feedback and comments are always appreciated.

There are user groups for Revit or other proggies like that... I will be going to a Revit user group in Milwaukee later this month... but these groups are run by the local distributor/reseller for the software who are getting paid in a way, it's a way of self-promotion, while also developing a relationship with their clients and providing a service. Revit comes out with a new build every 3 months, approximately. SU updates itself far less often and needs little explanation. For this reason, I don't see this really necessary/working for SU and the States.
but Solo is correct that this may work better for Luxemburg, Belgium, or the Netherlands than for the States...
clearly from the shear wave of posts here, it's going swimmingly

I've been to Texas, the people who say they are speaking English are speaking a different language than I am. When did "yawl" change from a boat to "youse guys."
Any way, I live in about the middle of the USA, if you all want to meet at my house, that's cool.

Be careful what you ask for John.

I'd like to have a user group for Martians, or as we prefer to refer to ourselves, People of Extraterrestrial Origins and Mind-crushingly Awesome (but "vast and cool and unsympathetic") Intellect. P.E.O.M.A.I.
-
If you are that mind crushingly awesome, why do you have to ask for one

Good point. I should have asked my wife first. Maybe I'll move to Canada.
