Hellooo out there. Anybody home? Canada is so big you have to yell pretty loud to be heard!

I come from Golden BC in the Rocky Mountains. Sketchup is used with google earth to map some special trails and places, along with attempts on woodworking and timberframe designs.
Whats sketchups have you been doing?
      Cheers

        Hi Alpmeadow, hi folks.

I mostly use SU to present concepts to customers or work colleagues as well as to produce 3D illustrations to add to my calculations briefs.

I also use it quite intensively to produce tutorials that I post in a few forums dedicated to SU, including, of course, Skectchucation.

        Just ideas.

          Hi Canadians!
Here in Prince Edward Island I use SketchUp to model potatoes. I model everything from French Fries to mashed potatoes - but only potatoes. By the way, boiled potatoes are easy to model but perfect potato salad is a challenge that alludes me.

I used to live in Nova Scotia. There I modelled beer. I lived in Ontario for a while too but that was in the time before SketchUp.

          Regards, Ross

eh mate. i don't live in canada but rather germany. over here potatoes are also very popular. previously i was very concerned about the ability of SU to model potatoes, just as you. however, with recent developments - such as FFD and smooth stretchy, both mashed, smashed, and all other types of potatoes should be easy. this, combined with sketchy physics, leads me to believe that we will soon be able to render and animate all important potato operations with our beloved program.

Thinkbuild - There are lots of Germans here in Canada. I think they move here because our potatoes are better. Maybe you should consider moving too.

One thing to note however is that we never "smash" our potatoes. They are to be loved and handled gently. If you came here and smashed a potato we'd put you on the first train back to Germany. 😲

              Regards, Ross

PS - I think your avatar image is great.

Coming to Vancouver in June, will be there for a few months. Anyone in Vancouver who could give me some training in SU. I'm presently living in Sydney and the level of SU training is zero, and I need to get my skills base up - and a bit of learning wouldn't hurt me...
                thanks

                  Hi Eamon,
You are in Sydney Nova Scotia? Or Sydney Australia?

I've just replied to your e-mail with some options for you.

To the Rest of the Canucks.

Being in Ontario and appealing to an International Market, I specialize in exquisitely painted 2D "face-me" potatoes and other vegetables. Because of our Proximity to Kitchener Ontario you may also find 2D face-me Octoberfest Sausage, and during the Summer Months we also offer 2D face-me Beaver Tails, a delicacy offered at Canada's Wonderland nearby.

We do take requests but give preference to Canadian raw materials.
