Growing up I played all the usuals; soccer, baseball, tennis... no (American) football though.
After high school I got hooked on Racquetball and Squash. I also played Paddleball and Badminton quite a bit. I played all through college, even on the Tennessee RB Team, and for a number of years after college. Then I moved back to Huntsville Al where the RB sucks to say the least. My game fell by the wayside and I play occasionally now but not like I used to. Shoulder surgery got me off the courts for a while too.

I used to play water polo (ball). Was not a "great" player (well, compared to Hungary's several World and Olympic champions) but I liked it.
Wish I had the time to play in our "Old Boys' Team" now!

          Pff eeuh lemme think:

          In the old days:

Swimming (got a shitload of diploma's everything from basic 101 to life guard training and snorkeling)
          Judo Brown Belt
          Jujitsu Green Belt

Oe and I used to play squash every now and then.

          These days:

My big passion Kite Boarding. Once you hit that 5 meter high air for the first time the adrenaline rush will be so intense that you will think you are God himself. I also do Wall climbing on a regular basis.

Ow wait how could I forget:

I have stunt skated on inline skates for almost 4 years, half pipe backflip frontflip rock and roll, bar bail, grinding, 720's you name it.

            Competitive (Olympic-style) weightlifting.
            Cross-country running.

Toyed with various martial arts and archery.

But I'm older now and my body doesn't deal with the constant damage as well anymore...by my mid-twenties I had arthritic symptoms in some joints and I have to be careful not to make things worse.

I always excelled at Football though and loved the sport... dreamed of playing in the NFL but was drummed out of College Football as a redshirt walkon after my 2nd year... they were just too good and too big, I couldn't compete, my team in high school went to state every year, I thought I was hot shizzlesnittles... got learned a few things in college. like I was nobody there, everyone had been to state and they were the best of the best of every school.

now I don't even watch it on TV or know who is or isn't in the sport.

I like speed... as a kid, and to today, my fav was downhill skiing, I slalom raced in the Nastar a couple winters.
Now, I'm into snowboarding. I also ride my mountain bike, the descent is a rush, can't say I like climbing though.

I played baseball up to senior year in HS, Football grades 7-12, Hockey, Rugby in college, Racquetbal. Now

                    Sport Fighting/kickboxing (12 - current)
Basketball (10 - 15) - I was too short to be any good on offense, but I was good on defense

Football (10 - 15) a couple of championships - I was the smallest guy out there...and hit the hardest so I was Defensive team captain, free safety (because of my open field hits usually took people out of the game), and special teams captain because I could run real fast and hit real hard. 😉 Played intramural football in college.

Much physical fitness - overall, from the age of 10 - 24 years I was spending a tremendous amount of time training in multiple fighting arts, so I had no time for regular sports. During highschool and college I normally trained for 3 hours a day, every day, so I was busy.
                    Autocross/Car racing - (23 - current) I haven't joined a club out here yet, but I will.

I've also done some gymnastics, wrestling, baseball, street hockey (yeah...skating and hitting..um no thanks!), snow skiing/snow boarding, surfing, climbing, roller-blading, skateboarding...running, jumping, climbing, swinging, etc....

As a kid, I had no idea that you were supposed to sweat when you excercise. I got very bad marks in phys ed because I stopped working when I began sweating. Then at age 15 we finally had enough money that I could afford to take ballet lessons. I went nuts. I very quickly went from 1 class a week to 5. When I got to University I actually started as a dance major. 7 brutal 1-1/2 hour dance classes a week. Ballet, Jazz, Flamenco, Modern. Then I realized I was headed for a life as a secretary. So I quit and went to business school. I continued dancing on again off agian for years until my 33rd birthday when I snapped my achilles tendon taking off for a grand jete. No more ballet for me. So I swithched to Flamenco.
Now I'm fat and read books.

Remember folks, use it or lose it. 😉 I've studied with Grand Masters in their late 50s and 60s that could do single leg squats, splits, high kicks at lightening speed. Their advice, don't give up and don't stop being physical. Once you stop, the effects snowball and become that much harder to reverse.

                              Just a thought.

I was super fit too until about 6 years ago when I started SketchUpping. Hmmm. what does that tell you.

Truly, it is a matter of priorities and when I started my own business my order of priorities was and is, my kids and their needs, my parents and their needs, my business, my business, my business, sleep, and if there is any time left over, me.

Littlt time and energy left. I know it is a vicious cycle, and I am trying to get off, but fitting excecise into my day consistently is very difficult to make into a habit. I'm still working on it. (PS: I don't really even read anymore. Not only no time but since I had to start wearing glasses to read the pleasure has gone out of it. It is very hard to curl up with a good book in bed and find the right angle through the damn glasses.)

LOL! Interestingly, the act of eating is probably one of the most skilled physical activities of most humans. Watch people eat...across cultures, they're all pretty good at using the tools of the trade!

Some people compete at eating so I guess it could be considered a sport! ...but you'd have to eat as many hot dogs as possible in 60 seconds...I'd rather fight four people at once..

i tried to stay out of this topic but once i peeked into it just could not resist joining it. so here it goes.

as a good brazilian i played soccer from 5 to about 35 (it is a rough sport, not suited to seniors...). oddly enough, one of my most active periods was during my stay in the US.

basketball from 12 to 19. played at school and as a semi-pro in local clubs.

tennis from 35 to 45. slightly obsessed with tennis, would play 5 times a week, had classes, played in tournaments. great sport to develop comradeship, respect for your opponent, fair play.

after that i stopped playing sports but kept running on the streets (3x a week) and going to the gym (2 or 3x a week).

                                        Hey,

I'm a pretty little guy, so contact sports weren't that big for me, needless to say I'm a typical small town Canadian, and I played hockey for 7 years, then gave up because the other guys were huge!

now I stick to more individual sports, stuff that I find fun. mostly cycling. Single Track Trail riding, downhill mountain biking, road riding (maybe racing one year...) That about sums up what I do for sports now-a-days in highschool I played rugby for a year, a little bit of badminton, not much really...

Whooah, a loot of athleetes here;-) I like that, especially Tinanne's discipline) I am good at eating also) But, aren't we all?

I practice a lot of sports, but not professionally any more, and not that often as I used to.

When I was 3 years old, and learned to walk normally, my parents have putt me on ski's, and it is my greatest passion among sports. I trained skiing full time for about 10 years, and now I am licensed skiing instructor, and if all goes well I will join a Croatian demo team in couple of years. Luckily, Zagreb has a great skiing place, just 15 kilometers from the center and when there is enough snow, we go skiing every day after work, during winter season. (yeah, I know, we lucky bastards)
Extreme skiing is in my blood, and when you try it once, you are never letting it go

My other passion is sport climbing, speleology and alpinism (all tightly connected) it is in my family for decades (my father is speleology and aplinism instructor).

And one of the most relaxing sports is sailing, but this is not a real sport, because I don't compete, I do it for fun, and I must admitt that we are drunk most of the time, but when there is good wind, we sail like maniacs;-)

I won't mention Ice hockey, rolerskating, bicycle and other simmilar sports, because I don't practice them as often as I would want to

                                          Cheers

                                          Cheers, Andrija

Guys, as the voting was going on, we finally decided to "fold" the "Fit Club" to the "Corner Bar".
I will make this particular topic sticky for a while until every "active" users of the used to be Fit Club sees the news.

                                            Thanks for your understanding...

                                            Gai...
