        Ross,
        Thanks for that.
I only got into sketchup in August last year and didnt really have much to offer. I did post a couple of tutorials once I felt comfortable with my skill base. I've a bit more to offer now.
        cheers

For those of you who don't already know...

Todd is a big Texan. He must be something like 6'-4" tall. Our buddy Coen on the other-hand might very well be the world's biggest SketchUpper. Coen must be at least 6'-6" tall - maybe taller. With the added height comes more energy than mere mortals possess. Coen is the 'Conan' of the SU world.

But then there is also CraigD and the Boulder SU crew: they live more than a mile above sea level. The air is thin up there yet they display signs of unusual intellect. Just imagine how good SU would be if they moved down to sea level. SU developer Susan moved to Massachusetts years ago and writes SU code at home. Closer to sea level: Perhaps that explains why she is so smart. More oxygen.

(I live about 15 feet above sea level so that explains my bias πŸ˜‰ ).

Kris - keep the postings coming! Don't retire. Oh and I've been meaning to ask: Does your Mom use SU or just leave it to you?
Guite - I like your avatar... and your unique point of view.
Alan - its bigger than SketchUp. 😎

We each live our lives in our own part of the world but this forum gives us a chance to communicate as equals with others the world over. I think what we learn is we ain't that different. We are brothers (and a few sisters).

          Regards, Ross

            Ross,
I know its bigger than sketchup, hence my postings on quite a few other topic in this forum. Calm at work by Paul Wilson, and quite a few others off topic. On the old forum I was more interested in building my knowledge. In this one, I have a bit more time to have a gab, and I certainly think the images make a difference.

Talking about tall ones, I measure up around 6 5". A few long ones in this forum.

            cheers
            Alan

              dear ross,

be sure that the appreciation is mutual. it is a real pleasure to be here.

i was not active before for two reasons. firstly, i could not contribute with much (although i'm a fast learner, i am still a sort of newbie myself, having started using SU just a year ago). and, secondly, i had never felt confortable in any forum before.

what i found here is a bunch of warm, helpful and generous people. it is amazing that, were it not for this forum, we would never have any contact at all!

so let's keep it going. my very best to you all.

                Thanks Ross.

Surprised to see myself mentioned on their, im a pretty quiet guy πŸ˜„

Again as Alan and Edson mentioned, im also new to SU last year, asking many questions at the old forum at first, getting so much great help, then just lurking and searching in the background.
It was a pretty amazing forum though, so sad to see it dissapear.

Im so pleased with the way this forum is progressing. We have had a few hiccups as would be expected, but we are all starting to find our feet and build this new SU resource together.

A quick mention to Coen though for setting this up and for the relentless work he carries out in the background.

                  Hi Dylan
A few of us here have been using SU since the early versions and been actively involved in the forums since then. I think I can speak for them and note that what we have learned is that contributions to the forums actually has very little to do with a person's SketchUp experience. Thankfully even a totally fresh user can still jump in and contribute. While SketchUp might bring us together I think it is something more that makes the 'community'. If we have any 'lurkers' out there please know that you are welcome to participate. Ask your question or add your two cents -- we are an easy-going bunch and will welcome you aboard. Just be yourselves.

                  Regards, Ross

                    I wish. 6' 1.5" and shrinking. I never did make it to 6' 2" 😞

Perhaps its the 230 lbs of me (16 stone, 6 pounds) that triggers Ross's memory of me from 3D Basecamp. After all, when I met him, I was inviting myself to dinner! That reminds me - I think Ross had close to a dozen glasses of beer that evening...

am I the biggest guy here? 6'3" I don't know how many stones that is, but I know where all the stones reside if you want to count them...

Ross, no my mother has only touched sketchup 1 time... she's not into any autocad or sketchup... I try but she's old school... she does use a program called Picture Publisher, it from Micrographix... it's basically like PhotoShop...

I won't be retiring... just backing off the huge number of posts... it's a little obscene, I'm going on 1000 posts maybe before we have 1000 members... but I will be here all long as the page comes up every day when I visit....

Wow, what a tall bunch. If you could all spare a little of your height, I'd have a chance of at hitting the 5' 1" mark. I'm just shy by 1/2"

Thanks Ross, I am getting misty.

I have been on the old forums since version 2, off and on. However I never had a counter so I don't know how much time I actually spent there. I definately feel like I spend more time here than I ever did back there.

Thanks again and it is nice to be noticed. πŸ’š

Don't worry Susan, you still look tall enough standing
next to me πŸ˜† Coen would have a clear 1'6" on you!

Hey guys - I haven't checked in for a while, and really haven't contributed much yet due to my extremely hectic schedule.. but I had to get in on this one.. Susan can vouch for me on this, I'm 6'4" and change and about 255lb, Ran 100 meters right around 12 last year (but Coen still says I'm really fat! πŸ˜„ ). So I guess I classify as one of the "big" guys! - I have been outgrowing my treeline as of the last couple of years and wonder how long I can keep up my Gen-X Comb-up before the last of the hairs on my head join the rest of them on my ever-thickening 100% natural Canadian sapien-sweater. Just call me the 'squatch! πŸ˜„

Whether they find a life there or not, I think Jupiter should be called an enemy planet.

Great to be a part of this forum as well! It's all of your contributions that helped ground me as a knowledgeable tester. I read the forums for around 6 months before I jumped in (to help at the launch with all of the networking/license problems), and I have considered you all friends since then! I have a tremendous amount of respect for you all, and what you create!

....and Ross, the part that hurts me at this altitude is that my machines have all lost a lot of expensive horsepower! Maybe though, the SketchUp team has extra energy because it requires more effort here to make blood and get oxygen so we end up with powerful Qi/Chi energy for our brains! πŸ˜‰ The team is really a bunch of very bright, very fun people! A lot of active people here! Rock climbers, runners, road bicyclists, mountain bikers, hikers/campers, BMXers/Skateboarders, wake-boarders, motorcyclists, martial artists, yoga practioners, along with the occasional keg stander! πŸ˜‰ Boulder is a hotbed for athletes, even with less oxygen!

And as far a physical size goes, you can put me in the category of human Pit Bull, or Jack Russel Terrier! I'm small, at 5' 7", 130 lb, but I feel 7 foot tall & bullet proof! If I ever hit or kicked a pad you were holding, you'd think you were hit by something much, much bigger...trust me. πŸ˜‰

I'd like to say again that I very much appreciate Coen and this community! You folks are what make us want to get to work early and stay late!

                                  Cheers,
