Our firm is participating in the Huntsville Alabama Canstruction event mid July.

Competing teams, lead by architects and engineers, showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. At the close of the exhibitions all of the food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for distribution to pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, elderly and day care centers.Unfortunately I will be out of town on the day of the build. I can help with the design however. Who knows, I just may SketchUp it prior.

Hey it was my first year running the show for LRS Architects (based in Portland, OR)
It is a great event and all for a good cause! LRS has been participating for over seven years now!Our tag line for this year was 'Kiss Hunger Goodbye!'
I used SU to figure out the structure and total can count.
This year we partnerd with Skanska USA.SU sketch and final build is attached!
Even though you cant build I would encourage you to design. It is a lot of fun!!

Well we had our meeting today and I am sorry to say that the Rubix cube was voted in. How boring. "Solve World Hunger"

A couple I threw out were:
A vaccum: "World Hunger Sucks"
A hammer: "Hammer out World Hunger"
The leaning tower of Pisa out of tomato paste
Something with LegoA couple other ideas voted on were a piggy bank and a treasure chest.

Well we voted on a new theme. I will reveal it when we are done as I have reason to believe that one of our opposing teams might be watching the forum.

Ok, here it is. Again, I was out of town on the build day so I only got to be in on the design. And of course the SU model.
Dispite my attempts to persuade the build team to lay this on it's back, they built it standing up anyway. Still looks cool. They did not have enough time to figure out the supports for the plexi that was purchased for this so they did without.
Anyway, here is our entry. We won the Structural Ingenuity award.
