Signing off, but drooling for more....
Anyone who gets Tinanne to say that on a public forum has my deepest respect!
And the modelling ain't bad either.

Hi Paul.
Fantastic work and you're making me homesick. Till I saw the wet roads...Quick question - is this on the Ormeau Road opposite the Hatfield? If so, I used to rent a flat right there, on the frontage! I recall it was a new flat but damp as hell...rubbishy wasteland out the back.
Cheers,
Nigel

Hi Paul,
You are a master!

Thank for all the nice comments guys and gals, its a fun project as there are no drawings and all the building are being built from hand measurements and counting bricks from photos. I`ve done a couple of proposals of the intended scheme but they were only done for discussion and had a life span of about 4 hours before they were invalidated.

Their on the Malone Road up past the Botanic Inn. I put a Google map link in the first post if you want to have a look.I Should have move to show next week as I'll have the survey data on Monday and will enable me to get the buildings in position in x, y and z.

Absolutely incredible Paul!! I agree with Tom..you are the master of the stone/brick texture!!
Thanks for sharing, inspiring, and causing a very select few to actually drool!
Respect, indeed!
Cheers,

Here's a few images, again its WIP but it gives you an idea of what's to come:
This one's just a test but it looks good:
Edit:
Here's a link to MS's live maps that shows the area in 3D

Like I said before...amazing, and i still itch to render this.
-
Solo,
Thanks, its clocking in at 15.5mb at the mo.
I've got 3 major holes to fill in front of a couple of buildings and then if you want to have a go its yours. Should be about 2-3 days work but I think my boss wants me on something else for a couple of days, so it may be next week before It's renderable.I forgot to mention that our office is the blue'y grey/terracotta building at the end of the terrace with the big bay windows. Tends to make the site visits a bit of a chore; all that traveling and such :ewink:
-
Paul, just fabulous! Will you be doing an animation of this?
-
Tina:
Thanks, I'm going to do a test one tonight, just up/down the road etc to see what the timing going to be like, I'll drop it on youtube later. -
Take your time, I can wait 'till next week. the size is no problem, I have a gmail mailbox. It would be an honor to render this. If possible could you mail textures seperate as well as in model as i would like to prepare the bumps and specular maps?
Thanks for the opertunity.

Just out of interest what do you get when you click on the Live Maps link?
I'm not sure if it brings up the link or just a UK map
-
Great work Paul.
-
quite nice Paul...
I'm not sure what what is old... just kidding but that's the point, new structures taking the que from the old in their form... but making better use of space or view.
and then there is your modeling... fantastic! the detail is superb... simple, elegant... as usual, great job.

Hi, Kris
Thanks, This is just the existing streetscape, the proposal is still being designed. I've already done 5 versions from a simple block model to an 'almost' working design but until the design is signed off I cant really show it. -
Did an animation last night, 2700 Tiff's at 2048x1536 totalling 15.8Gb!! It only took about 9 hours.
I'm squeezing them into an avi at the moment and I'll post a version on YouTube in a bit.
-
Here you go, one animation.
It has that damn shadow flashing as the camera passes through the shadow of the street lights but other than that its OK for a WIP. -
Very impressive, Paul! It's going to be exiting to see more deveoped phases (with the new ly designed stuff)
