      Hello!

I am a beginner of using SketchUp for CAD.

I`ve made a plan drawing of my house. I have tried to export to dwg format. I want to send my drawing to someone who uses AutoCad. I got a problem with the measures after exporting. The measures in AutoCad is not the same as in SketchUp.

I tried to make a simple model, a square 200mm*200mm and then export to dwg. When i open in DWG True View and measure I get other measures.

      What am I doing wrong?

As you can see my English is not the best. Sorry. I hope you understand my problem.

        Hi there,

Have you checked the export options during export? There is an option there where you can set the model units during export. Make sure that you both use the same unit system (and units) so if you set your template to millimetres, export it that way and he should also import it that way.

Thanks. We have both been using mm as a unit. When exporting ive used mm (decimal). One of the options is scale but those fiels is "grey", I can not use scale option. I dontt hnow if that is a part of the problem.

Well, that was just an idea. I rarely export to dwg so am quite unexperienced (and currently not sitting at my machine with the pro version to start "experimenting").
Could dxf be another (and maybe better) option?

              Hi folks.

              Export as 3D model.

I just made a 200 mm x 200 mm square in SU (on the ground plane), that I exported as a 3D model (dwg format). It opened correctly in AutoCAD with correct dimensions.

I guess that you want a 2D dwg file? In that case, you must select one of the standard views (top, front.... etc) and select Parallel Projection from the Camera menu before exporting. The greyed out fields in the Export options dialog will now be active.

Thank you everyone for helping me. The problem is now solved. The model I exported had a lot of Dimensions visible. When i removed the visibility of this layer an exported, all measures in AutoCad was equal with the model from skethup. All the answers you have given me has been a learning process for me. So thank you again everyone. This Forum is perfect for me as a beginner of using SketcUp.
