Help with new laptop
-
I recently got a new laptop and I haven't had much time to get it set up the way I want it.
I just tried opening a model I have had been working on for a while on a different computer and now it's EXTREMELY slow. It's a huge model with tons of complex geometry but I know this new machine has a whole lot more power then my other machine. I need a little help setting this up.I have an Intel duo core 2.2ghz processor, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, Vista OS.
I have seen people mentioning open GL in other topics but I have no idea what that is or what it does. Is there something else I need to turn on or off for better performance? (forgive my ignorance, I am not very computer suave, which is why I am turning to you guys for little help.)
Thanks in advance
JeffP.S. This is a model I asked for help on awhile ago and now that it is complete I would love to post it and hear some feedback.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenGL
If you go to window->preferences->openGL and make sure youve got the hardware acceleration and fast feedback boxes checked.
If you also open up your graphics card driver and make sure openGL is set to 'application controlled' those are usually the main culprits.
Probably also worth checking youve got the latest drivers for your graphics card, you should be able to find them here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

I've done all of that an it is still not working. I can't do anything with this model. if I even click my mouse it locks up for about 3 min. Is there some other setting I'm missing?
