Exporting components
-
I seem to be having trouble making components act as a group inside of bryce 6. They do not keep their hierarchy, even when the components are induvidually exploded then regrouped....Anyone have any ideas?

sorry, im not entirely sure what your asking. any chance you could provide an example of what your talking about?
ps when you sya 'bryce 6' do you mean sketchup 6?
edit: cheers for pointing that out gai, dammed ignorance of modelling software

hope someone can answer your question harvey.

Yes, it is when i export a sketchup made model (exported as .3ds) into Bryce 6.
Let's say I make a wheel, making a component out of a slice, and then copying and rotating slices until i have a wheel. Then I group it, and export it. When it is imported, the grouping information is lost (this only happens with "components"; objects made without components, then grouped, work as planned) and I have to select every face in the "component", which is impractical.
Thanks for your interest in helping me.

So it seems that only nested components in groups explode via exporting. Have you tried not grouping them but making another component?
