Animation sky [Tutorial] (sky dome)
-
maybe you are not interested of boring monocorom Su skys while rendering animation ( I mean pure SU animations not other render apps.
).... here is a sky scene you may find it interesting .(you may modify materials, scales, or even hide or rotate (one of the) sky domes if needed ). have fun! main idea is not mine : i got it from kt forum : http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=76

Cheers majid. really like the trnspaency

Sky scene is composed of 3 domes over each other . each one has a different material and you may change hue/saturation/brightness using material editor to get different results such as morning , calm or evening skys . i guess you'll find it a useful tool and you may do improved versions

Majid
How do the domes effect render times?
How do you set up lightig inside the dome, as the SU sun penetrating three domes would be cast very dark shadows and be dull right?
-
dear solo i tried it directly in su , not other apps. .but there was no problem using shadows... i tried material editor increasing saturation ....nice job

You can always "paint" any plane differently on its two side. You can add a totally transparent material from outside the dome (thus the sunshine penetrates and casts shadows without problem) while have the sky texture applied from inside Tom (tomsdesk) made a nice one (or helped someone out?) as far as I remember where even the clouds cast shadows.
This is also nice, Majid!

Dear Majid,
Your sky would not be recognised in the UK; far too blue and summer-like. Something approaching the inside of Tupperware box would be more appropriate here.
How does one use the dome image? Would one use the skippy as the basis for a template, or can one import what you have done into an existing skippy. These questions might seem very basic to you, but so far I have only used Sketchup for mechanical models, and so have not addressed the aesthetic side of presentation. An M10 nut and bolt looks just as boring with a Majid sky as it does with a monochrome sky.
Is there a tutorial which describes how one creates and uses a sky dome?
Kind regards,
