We don't know exactly when it started, but all of a sudden we started having a problem renaming our existing photo files. We normally would right click on the photo and click on rename it and it would be no problem as it would change it right away. Now, when we right click on the photo and ask it to rename a box pops up and says, "If you change the file name extension, it may become unusable. Are you sure you want to change it?" What do we do?..... We need help....... 😎

This is not within SU I guess.

Well, anyway, I believe that if you keep the file extension, there won't be any problem. There are file managers (like Windows Explorer) where you cannot even see the file extension (too bad - I hate it, I like to change extensions when I need them) so you cannot even change them.

In other file managers you can see the extensions as well and also change them. Now if you change the extension of an image file (like *.gif or *.jpg or *.png), it may be unusable (not necessarily though). Just don't do it, that's all.

Thanks, Remus - but I don't really use Windows Explorer for anything really. πŸ˜‰
