If you try Firefox 3 beta, and then uninstall it... DO NOT choose to remove personal data!

Apparently, Firefox 3 Beta shares personal and configuration data with the already installed stable version of Firefox. I just lost a huge collection of bookmarks and things. 😡

    Hi

Might be worth having a read through this jim: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1139

I havent had time to read through the whole thing, but i tink its about data recovery without having to send your disk off to be opened up.

Sorry for your loss, i've given up on keeping bookmarks personally, i lost them too often.

The beta can be installed at the some time as the stable version, which is why I choose to delete the data - I never thought the 2 installations would share it, nor that removing a beta version would clear out the stable version.

Actually, I'm not that bothered by the loss - it's actually liberating in a way.

          Hi

Wow! What a coincidence. This is just what I've been looking for! Thanks!

I regularly run mozbackup and advice everyone to do so. Firefox once scrambled my bookmarks, lost them on another occasion and lost my stored passwords one day as well.
