I have an HP Pavilion 512w (2002); celeron, 8GB free space on HD, 512RAM, Intel integrated graphics (down). I use AutoCAD 2004. CAD works fine if the files are small (I program a Biesse CNC). SU is slow when viewing large models (files). What is the bare minimum system required to view larger files (7 MB is large to me).

you might be ok, although if you try to do anythign big, then youll have problems, as SU uses opengl, and integrated graphics card support for opengl is very poor, makes orbiting and navigating the model very hard.

I think the practical bare minimum configuration would be something like:

        • any Pentium 4 processor or higher
        • 1 GB RAM
        • a dedicated video card (preferably GeForce, although ATI works for many too)with the amount of memory that is enough for your screen - I am quite happy with 64 Mb
        • a 3-button mouse with a scroll wheel

Your machine could perhaps be quite OK with more memory and a decent graphics card

Thanks for the replies. I think I will continue with my current setup. I don't think I can add more memory- the slots are full/unless I upgrade Motherboard. I may try to upgrade to a dedicated video card...I have 2 free PCI slots. Thanks again you two.
