See the thread about Spam on the "free" SketchUp Forum:

      http://groups.google.com/group/SketchUp ... d0c7c4f70a

I wonder why the Google Group forums are unmoderated? There are definitely people
at SketchUp who "care" about SketchUp and care about the SketchUp
users. There are even people who read the forums and respond to
      questions. Why aren't they moderators?

I always submit my "new" questions here in the SketchUp Community Forum:

But I watch the other two Forums (Google Groups) to see if there is
anything I can help with. And I make announcements of new software,
      etc. on all three forums.

Al, all you can do there to report policy violation.

Once I started my own GGroups (just to try out how it was) and I found that I could not delete spam posts. If this is true (and it wasn't just me a complete idiot - that can incidentally happen though) the structure of the Groups prevents "mods" there from acting.

It's not that the SU Google Groups aren't moderated - they're just poorly moderated, or, said another way, not moderated in a proactive manner.

The posts that I have reported directly to Boulder have been dealt with promptly and completely (posts like how to hack a license key, etc.)

Could any forum owner be held responsible to monitor all posts before making them public? Sure. It's all about the cost of quality.

I have not seen so much spam at the Groups, and what has been seems to have disappeared quite fast enough. So someone somewhere must be monitoring...

There's spam everywhere - it's just up to the number of posts altogether and the time and energy moderators (or any kind of staff) can devote to filtering them.

There is (though not too many) spam posts here as well - but thank those who report them we can handle them.
