A little OT, but you reminded me of an idea I thunk up over 20 years ago-- (I'm one of those people who are always coming up with ideas that entertain or frighten)... I was thinking why not embed plates in a roadway where there is a lot of heavy truck traffic? I was a sonar guy in the navy, so I was aware of piezoelectric theory.
No one ever took me serious, but I never heard a reason why those trucks couldn't generate a lot of power.Software for the crowd farm.. uhhh-- Maya?
help me!!! I have more ideas.. how about plug in a bunch of kids to tramplolines?

.. or connecting all the exercise bikes in gyms to the national grid - burn off calories and power the lights at the same time.

I believe that this is based on a bridge that was made in England, and it generates enough power to run the lights on part of the road, makes a ton of sense to me!
