House I built.

Absolutely Gorgeous... I love the finish outside... the detail is fantastic. I would have gone with a lighter wood in the library... but hey who's to nit pick great job...

Thanks for the comments guys.
I am not too fond of the library myself. It was one of the last details we were working on when the project got put on hold. I think the owners wanted a vacation from planning -
large project happen like that... it took over 10 years... 3 totally different plans... it was for a large corporate home for Preformed Line Products

It's a great pleasure to see a work like that

That is really impressive. Amazing amount of detail. Roughly, how much time do you have invested in that? Have you tried rendering any of it?
I've been wanting to do something like that just for the fun of it on my own time as my company at most does massings with minimal details.

Thanks everyone for all the comments.
I worked on this off and on for about 9 months. I has gone through as many changes as I have opened the model. I also controlled the floor plan in cad at the same time. About half of the modeling time the design architect was sitting in my office looking over my shoulder. The clients spent quite a bit of time looking over my shoulder as well.
I have not tried rendering it as I have not gotten into any photorealistic rendering programs. I dabbled a bit in Podium and made one not so nice image with Kerky but that is it. I wish I had the time to learn but for now that is not in my cards. Thankfully SU is.
I am now working on another residence that is quite large as well but I am on a time and $ limit for the model.
Thanks again.

Damn Eric, that's some nice work there. Good job

Nice job, Eric. Looks like a mansion in Newport. Is this thing going to actually be built, or is it your "retirement house"?
Great detailing and good eye for colors. Keep us posted...

WHOA!!! Holy c**p!! Eric, I'm utterly blown away! That's one impressive "house" model (what an understatement!).
Beautiful detail inside and out. Exquisite, Eric! I was astonished with the exterior detail...then I saw the interior shots with the library and curves and painted ceilings! Wow! Thanks for sharing!!
I'm curious; how much time does something like that take to complete?

Thanks Craig, nice to hear your comments.
I worked on this off and on for about 9 months. It has gone through as many changes as I have opened the model. (floor plan wise) I also controlled the floor plan in cad at the same time. Right now, job is on hold but the owner will build someday. Estimated cost is $6 Mil with current materials cost... but that is just an estimate.

eric,

Oh, please do. I would love to see it and get a workflow.

What a fantastic project to work on Eric. That is such a great test of various SU skills which many buildings do not use.
It is certainly not my taste in architecture, but is still an impressive building.
Did you model the internal iron balustrade?Dylan
