We've got slightly different problems here. Really surreal driving round seeing water bowser's on street corners and people queuing for bottled water from the back of a lorry!

my girlfriend flew out today and said it was 35 degrees just as it started to rain here for the gazzillionth time.....sucks to be us

My daughter is in Greece this week with her school. They spent 4 days in stifling heat on these little sailing yachts. They were stuffed below deck in these little sleeping cubicles and the stench from the weird boat toilets made everyone retch.
I have a better appreciation for what she was trying to get across to me about the heat now.

I love the heat
hate the cold -
I was in a camp with kids last weekwhen it was the worst. I can tell you it was horrible - some kids literally fainted and had to be taken care of.
There is a thermometer across from the town hall in my city and a colleague of mine whom I talked on the phone said that at 4 in the afternoon she saw more than 42 centigrades on it. Fortunately it was kind of dry heat (coming from Africa) and not that very humid one which would have made it even worse to endure.
I'm really sorry to "report" that the mother of one of our "fellow SU Comunity member" here also died in the heat.

on the other hand, we are having a cold wave here at the southern tip of brasil. you perhaps imagine the whole brasil has a tropical climate. nope, the south is different, with 4 well defined seasons. this year we are having constant cold, with even some traces of snow!!!! just picture me all bundled up in front of my screen.

Edson - I think I'm around the same latitude as you (28.5) and we are experiencing a cold winter. The mountains inland from me are getting severe frosts and the snow in places.
