How to Tell Which Material is Assigned to Which Object?
-
I must be missing something here...
I'm coming back to a model that I worked on last year...I need to know which material is assigned to the objects...Entity Info shows a colour swatch, but doesn't give the Material name (not even a tool tip, like in the Materials Palette) There are several shades of grey in the model, and it's difficult to tell which is which.
Any other way of finding out? Other than editing the colour and seeing if it changes...?

Hi Tim,
In the entity info you have a direct access to the material. Just click on the colour and you get to a small material browser kind of window where you have the tooltip (the material you are investigating is framed like in the big window)

Cheers, Gaieus...Ha! That easy...you can tell I haven't used SU for over a year, can't you?
p.s. have PM'ed you with some questions re. the Transfer...

You can also right click on the material swatch on the materials dialog box and choose "select". Then all faces using that material will be highlighted. I use this quite often. This is great when making a linked material in Vray and wanting to make sure you are grabbing all the objects/faces using that material.

Hmmm...are you on Windows, Scott? Doesn't happen on the Mac version...
