[Tutorial > Modeling] Brick Arch (revised)
-
Here's a revised, simpler method for creating a brick arch from scratch, with the joints radiating from the center. Again, although simple it is time consuming and should only be used when you feel your model warrants this level of detail.
Also, this works for creating an arch from scratch. If you've alreeady modeled the arch and want to add mateerrials to it, the steps are slightly different. I will post a separate tutorial as soon as possible.

A very detailed tut, thanks Daniel.
I might add that if you make half the arch a component, copy, mirror to the other side, then make a full component of both halves. This will make your life a lot easier if there are multiple arches.

You are correct, tinanne, but as the segments are not exactly symmetrical to the center, one would have to adjust where the two halves meet.

Thanks for the tutorial, but, except for scene 1, all I see are as the screen shots below illustrate:
Thanks for any suggestions

Hi Eugen,
It seems like a classical "clipping".
Have you changed any of the camera settings? On my PC it works properly. -

This is what appeared, just the way the file opened automatically after it finished downloading. I spun things around and zoomed out afterwards but all to no avail. I have seen this before when I was too far in or trying to do too much too fast all at one time.
It is a computer - I should keep my expectations low.
Thanks for the response.

Hm... My computer is a two-year-old cr***p. Can it be a video card issue? Is your video driver up-to-date?

Thanks Daniel. Great Tutorial.
I create brick arches all the time, but take the easy way out and depend on distance to hide the material not following the arch. Thanks again Mister!
