I'm sure it does, Craig...
The problem for me is, that you don't seem to have similar seminars running in Europe...
If you had I would most definitely be very interested...!
(and I meet all your requirements... ) -
Craig, this is very interesting and I would jump on it if it were not for 3 factors.
- I have a full time job that I love and cannot leave.
- I just started with Form Fonts as well and need to "settle in".
- Other than: "Hey where is the Great Wall of China?" or "What does my house look like?" I have never used Google Earth let alone modeled anything for it.
Thanks for posting this up here however. I am sure you will get some more interest as the week progresses.
-
#3 is very disheartening....
Take a look at some of the 3D work that is going on there. Look at Westport, Ireland, or Marvao Portugal if you want to see some interesting 3D work.

Back on topic...
If the the job looks interesting (and you don't share Eric's POV), please throw your hat in the ring.

It's a shame you don't have such training programmes in Europe...
I'm ATC Trainer here in Germany, but all is done by the resellers. So people do not have any knowledge of what is possible here. No Fairtrades, no marketing, no services, no POC
coming up from Google...only web advices. Yep, it's a shame.Craig,
I donβt really know the policy of Google or the people behind SU but I think there
is a great potential potential market for SU in Europe.
I visit special arch-design fair-trades all over Europe on regular basis and
I agree with Burkhard with a small effort the possibilities of SU would be
brought to attention to a great many professionals.
Let me just give You an example.
From 23 to 27 th of February in Dusseldorf , Germany there is a Global
Retail trade fair. This is probably the biggest in the world, even I think
bigger than the one in Chicago. It is held every three Years . I have attended
the last two and I will be attending probably this one too. There are 1600 exibitors
from 50 countries and over 100.000 visitors are expected. These are not
normal visitors but mostly professionals . There is a special area reserved
for architects and designers.
The reason I am writing this is that I have been designing among other projects
retail spaces for almost 15 years . I have designed over 200 stores and before
I stumbled by accident on SU . Before I had used different applications but
after SU and I never looked back.
The applications that have been offered on these Fairs are of two kinds.First β The producers of shop equipment sell You their own package so that
You can plan the layout using their own products.
Second- The packages are offered by individual software producers .In both cases the prices are high they range from 5000 to 10000 euros.
The learning curve is steep and they are more fixture orientated than
design. This is just one example but I could tell You many others.
Cheers,

If Google needs training people in Europe, you will get my resume.

That's great feedback guys! I can't wait till the call for European trainers comes up!
In the meant time, we're still looking for good U.S. trainers right now. If there are people who are on the fence about this, please let me know. We can talk through more of the details and maybe you'll find that this is possible to do AND have your own business not be affected.
You'll make great contacts in the U.S., and get a leg up on the competition while doing this trainer gig by the way.
Send in your resumes, or contact me.
Cheers,

For you or for me?
The more I look at this I have to admit I may have seemed like a jerk. My apologies.
I meant nothing other than the fact I am not qualified to teach Google Earth and it is to my misfortune. -

Craig, this is the part that is stopping me. Maybe you can PM me with more info?

Hey Craig, thanks for posting about this. I've sent in my info to the email address you posted, so we'll see what happens. I've been looking to make a change in this direction so it's worth looking into.
-
That's great Peter! Thanks!
Tina Anne, I'll talk with the training folks tomorrow morning and will be in touch.
In looking at the responses, I may start to recommend that we have regional trainers...we'll see...
Thanks for your interest so far! I'll keep posting details.
Cheers,

Hi folks, I just spoke with our head of training and understand the positions a little better. It looks like these are FULL TIME (but temporary) positions and would require being treated as a full time gig.
I know there are folks out there that would be perfect for this position as a SketchUp trainer and it would open you up to many great contacts!
Please consider this, and throw your resume into the ring! <training at sketchup.com> (please say you saw the post at SCF when responding)
Come on all you SketchUp pros! This should be a very fun gig!
- CraigD

Hi Modelhead, I'm looking into your request now. I'm pretty sure that we're looking for individuals who will travel to training locations. Does that sound possible for you and/or your associates?
...and no, no-one's purposely ignoring your requests because of the name Modelhead!
I'll let you know on both fronts.
Cheers,
- CraigD

I have to give some thought to this but off hand,
We have a training facility here in Barrie that has 10 seats. It is of course busy with training on our 20-20 Kitchen Design Product as well as (for large "installed sales companies) Design Tools Suite. We also have a sales force and training facilities at a few popular US training destinations. If you check our web page and scan the events page it will give you an good idea of our US coverage.
The point is, our training staff members are in a positon to take on another product line. For the Design Tools product there will be expanding interest in SU because it compliments our product suite. We would like to start with an ATC in Barrie for a few reasons. I think probably to start with...to get our US facilities on board with SU.
So to answer your questions...yes...yes...yes, we can do...I think we should have an official relationship.
I would be happy to start a dialogue....Terry, my boss, President, Owner would like to be involved.......cheers!!
Please PM me your contact info...we're interested in chatting.
Thanks,
- CraigD
