Sell an idea/invention???? HOw?

Has anybody ever tried to sell an idea, invention??? Can you give me any tips on where you start...Who you can trust...

Iam sooooooooooo lost but would really like to look into it..

I've always been an Entrepreneur... like this last weekend my mother and I designed a new wall system...

we have Partners that will in turn promote the product... after some research and testing of course...

that where you're at... don't ever pay someone to promote your product... do it yourself. no matter how small, if you do it yourself and the product is worth anything, the opportunity will come along to expand on it... or someone will buy it when they see your potential... don't pay these TV commercial places on late at night....

build a plan... showcase the plans...
build a prototype... showcase the prototype...
plan a manufacturing process... showcase it...
build a website to sell your product... and advertise through grass roots Internet methods the website IE relevant inbound links......

It's a private bureau, but you're free to do the whole stuff yourself:

You can trust such government organisations. And in general the known private bureaus can be trusted as well. However no form of registration can guard you against plagiarism. And if it ever comes to that, no patents office or whatever will do the legal work for you, all they do is supply the proof that you did register your idea.

In most cases you'd better keep the money in your pocket and just launch your idea. Hope for the best.

Hey Richard,
Just be carefull of thoes TV and Radio Ads where they promote that kind of stuff! 98% of the time they just take your money and sometimes the variation of your idea as well. Doing it yourself the hard way seams to be the "safest". There use to be a place - The patent & Trade mark Office in D.C. ??? (703)557-3158 or was it (703) 308-HELP? Ask for the free booklet "Summary of how the patent process works". And they will mail it to you. I think once you fill out the information, it costs 5-10 bucks to for the Patent and Trading Office to keep a confidential note of the date and time your idea was submitted while the "official" process gets under way.

As Maggy says its a jungle out there and registration
will only prove so much.

I remember from reading up on this stuff some time in
the past, that to make a design copyright 'solid', it
has to be published !

I imagine the Net would be a good place to do so and
this forum would be ideal. It at least proves that
you 'had' the design idea in your ownership at a
certain day.

google also has a nice patent search..... used it recently and found like 5 previous patents for my 'new' invention...lol... good luck!

Yes, that's a serious risk for inventors. There've been so many before you. The safest way to get a patent is:
-put your name on the mailing list of all small silicon chip developing companies
-order all their newest chipset samples and development kits
-order the best PCB design and simulation software plus the latest prototyping machines
-hire the best firmware writers you can get
-design housing and packaging for your newly developed devices at home, late at night on the coffee table using Sketchup of course
-launch your products worldwide using the services of the best advertising agencies, the best marketing bureaus and the best distributing networks

• price tag at least 10x the production cost. But take care to flood the market, deluge, tsunami, grab the moment.
  -last but not least, have a team of the best lawyers to sue anyone who hits the market with a similar product.
