    Happy new year,

SketchUp is shutting down when I import a USGS DEM file. I had to download and unzip the file on a PC before i could transfer to the mac. SketchUp accepts the file as a DEM, but shuts down right after it starts importing. If you have ever tried to right click paste in SketchUp instead of Edit> paste you have probably had a similar shut down. Has anyone else had this problem? I have looked through tutorials and everything so far has said it should work...

-Is the DEM file too big?

      answered my own question.

Once I open the zipped DEM file in my pc program 3DEM, I changed projection to UTM. Then I patched missing data . Then is is safe to save the file as USGS ASCII DEM. SketchUp can then read the DEM file.

That's a pretty useful tid-bit Jordan, thanks for sharing.
