Someome mentioned that he has a problem when he exports a model to AutoCAD when he uses "Hide". He says that the model sort of disintegrates in front of him and he wants to know what the problem is and why he can't work with the exported SketchUp model in AutoCAD. Not being an AutoCAD user I was a bit perplexed since the lines actually hiding when one chooses a "hide" command seemed like a desirable outcome. However he assured me that in true counter-intuitive fashion one is expecting to see MORE detail in the AutoCAD model when one chooses to "HIDE". Can anyone explain to me what is going on here? What is wrong so I can tell the fellow how to fix it. Many thanks.

        Thanks Brad,
I will ask for more detail. I asked a number of questions in class but I was feeling more and more ignorant as though I didn't even know the right questions to ask so I assumed this "HIDE" in AutoCAD would instantly be recognized by AutoCAD users even though it didin't make any sense to me.
Will get back to you. Thanks again.

I am almost sure that this is not what the person asked you, but a standard 2D drawing exported from SU would look funny in AutoCad if one used the "hide" command. The export has no faces, so nothing happens there, but the section cut and profile edge lines are exported as wide polylines, and these lose their fill with Hide, and look meshy instead. Of course, a Regen brings all back to normal again.
