It is possible to use a watermark image that "imitates" a kind of cloudy sky as a background but it is not possible to change the ground to something painted with texture.

If you use a sky background, it is highly recommended to use a non-transparent ground plane otherwise your sky may appear underground, too. See attached image for an example. I downloaded the paertially transparent png file from the "Old SketchUp Forums" but unfortunately I forget who I owe the credits. They are not mine for sure.

        Thanks, Gaieus
I'll try this. My next experiment is to see how and if it exports to Kerkythea.

No, it doesn't export to Kerky. But why don't you use hemispherical or spherical sky textures in Kerky? They give you a way better result than this one in SU. You can even download some from the Kerky site and there are linkds to very good sites where you can download a lot of other ones.

Gaieus is correct, use the ones in Kerkythea (you need to download them first),you will achieve some very good results and they are simple to use.
Here is the link to where they are:

I'm already doing that guy's. It was a bad thought. the globals in kerky are much better way to go. HDRI maps are even better.
