I'm working on a new SU project and I want to export this project to Kerkythea to try some rendering.

I dont know why but I'm unable to save the .xlm file. Each time I try to export the SU file with Kerkythea plug-in, the plug-in is unable to create the .xlm file. When I click the save button to export the file, I return directly in SU without exportation file.

I tried to export others SU file in Kerkithea and I dont have any problem ❓ This export problem seem to be only with my first file???? ❓

      Can anyone help ❓

      Thanks

        Hi Daniel,

Would it be possible for you to make the 'skippy'-file available for me somehow..??
If you zip it and if it's not too big, you can send it to my e-mail: frederik [at] kerkythea.net

This is the only way I can debug it...

        Cheers

          Hello Daniel,
I have checked your file and the model consists of ca.800,000 faces, which in turn can give ca. 2,4M triangles. My advice is to export the whole model in parts. You have already divided it into several groups - try to export one by one (using selection) or even divide them even further more.

SU2KT 2.4 will have some improvements in importing huge models. Version 2.3 is almost ready now.

To moderators: This thread should be moved to Ruby forum, as it still relates more to the issue with exporter, then rendering itself 😄

            Hello Tomasz,

            Thanks for your quick reply.

I'll try to export my model in parts in the next few days and I'll inform you about the result.

            Thanks

              Hi all,
I have just downloaded KT today to give a try and face the very same problem than Daniel.
The export file doesn't show the .xml extension and doesn't save.

Any help or clue welcome, thanks in advance,

              Patrice

                Patrice,

Unfortunately I cannot see what the letters say but there is another thing you must keep in mind (and now I'm just guessing): neither in the file name nor in the path leading to it there should not be any non-English characters.
Are you sure you don't have any? (I'm not sure about this but I guess none of your materials and maybe even components/layers/anything should contain "international" characters either to make it sure).

                Gai...

Thanks for your answer Gaieus, I checked out through layers, components and files path, but no non-english character showing...I also had a look at the tutorials and getting start video, can' find any solution. Well, I will stay with Artlantis Studio for my renders until someone hand me some clue to the problem!

                  Thanks again,

                  Regards,

                  Patrice

Now here is what I just found:
                    C:\Documents and Settings\Propriétaire\Bureau\SKETCHUP
Do you think the "é" could be the reason why I have problems?
I am not very confident with Windows and I don't know if there is a way to change that word.
Too bad KT not made for Mac.....would be much more simple as I find Windows a pain in the neck!

                      Hi Elmer,

I'm sure the "é" in your path is the problem.

I have had this problem when I tried to import textures in Kerkythea

                        Hi Daniel,

I changed the path to this one:
                        C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Bureau\SKETCHUP
unfortunately it doesn'seem to help, still no .xml and no export....
                        Probably some other reason!
I'm going to wait for KT for Mac, looks like it's on the way!

                        Anyhow thanks for your help,
                        Regards,

                        Patrice

                          Hi Patrice,
Have you tried to export to C:? I remember someone reporting problem with saving into My Documents folder or rather at the desktop.

                          @unknownuser said:

The export file doesn't show the .xml extension and doesn't save.

It will not show you extension below file name. You can just press save.
If you could open Window\Ruby Console and try exporting. There should be an error in the console.

What happens when you press 'Save' in your sample?

                            Hi Tomasz,

Thanks for the trick, was able to save and open model in KT!
Now all I have to do is learn how to get some good render!!!!

                            Thanks again,
                            Regards,
