biebel... i really enjoy ur posts here... u use a lot of rendering apps through SU and post them all here and i learn a lot through them... i enjoy ur comments on the work flows posted on each rendering apps.. i am sure u post the renders in their respective forums too... but i just dont wanna join all the forums ...( 3 or 4 is pretty hard itself...)
anyways.. if u dont post here where will u be posting all the different collaborative works??? -
Hmmm....I find it strange that you are prepared to let go of the one of the best render artist around there is just like that. I am also of opinion that if is skippy file than it is a fair game.
Scottopara I do not know what you do but reducing rendering to hitting a render button does not show much of the knowledge about rendering. -
well yeah, its more than hitting the button..but i dont think he meant it like that... and he's 100% right.. you cannot have a good (photoreal) render without the detail..

I don't think that would be the case, Sepo.

It always amazes me what post or comments are taken to this extreme. I do not believe that Coen was trying to tick anyone off or upset anyone as I was not either. I think what was trying to be said is this is not a max, cinema 4d, or any other forum but a Sketchup forum. While I have posted work that was completely modeled in Sketchup but rendered externally the work itself was 100% modeled in sketchup.
Sepo,
I did not mean to "reduce rendering to hitting a button". What I am trying to say is that with programs like Vray or maxwell and many others, a person can do a very quick render that can impress someone who does not know rendering. Render programs have come a long way to making the art of rendering much easier to do. I have been rendering for quite some time and I do understand that a good render does take time and effort and does not require someone to just hit a button.Marked001,
We at formfonts are very strict about modeling in Sketchup and Sketchup only. I am sure there are a few instances where texturing or a slight bit of modeling may be done with another program but for 99% of the time all of our models are modeled only in Sketchup. Many of the vehicles on the warehouse are 3ds conversions and they can be picked out by someone who knows what they are looking for in a second or two. By the way amazing work on the penthouse you did. That is a great example of the raw power of Sketchup in talented hands.Best regards,
Scott

Well, that really hurts me.
Like the work you do Biebel. pleasse don't go.
Like Sepo sayd it is not only push the renderbutton, a lot more
it's lichtning , texture's enviroment and all of that.
So when you archieve something like that why not show it in the gallery. -
Thank you guys for the support.
Let me answer this thingie without words

As a board member with one voice amongst many, I feel obligated to give an opinion on this thread.
A) Is there a mission statement or guidelines statement for what methods employed to produce an image are acceptable. If so can you please direct me to that statement so I can be assured that I follow your board guidelines and that all board members also have a chance to review and comply with the submission guidelines.
B) It would seem to me that the corner bar can be an outlet for or catchall for topics that are not necessarily appropriate for a particular sub forum, however in my opinion this particular post seems to be fine as a post in the Renders sub-forum, just my opinion.
C) As administrators of a (multi-user multifaceted many sided) cluster of people you must balance the need to seperate the discussion into distinguishable and distinct sub forums, while not sub dividing it to the extent that you are left with forum topics so narrow as to only include very few "acceptable" on topic posts. IE: even though this is a SketchUP forum we indeed do talk about many other subjects, and even though the sub forum has the topic of Renders Gallery, That is still a fairly Broad category which can encompass many different interpretations of acceptable posts.
In my opinion if we attempt to further subdivide the categories like this for instance
forum category:
"images generated by only native modeling in sketchup and only using a pluging renderer with no post processing"
Images generated by any combination of modeling or importing geomotry created in any other modeling app which were then rendered with a sketchup plugin and post processing was used"
Anyway you can see my point in the end as long as the poster can explain the process used to create a particular image and Sketchup was one part of that creation process, It is my opinion that that image and post should belong in a gallery subforum and not the corner bar. The "community" part ot "SCF" should be willing to allow a member to post his or her images to a gallery forum for discussion. The corner bar for me is a place to go to discuss topics that may not even be related to sketchup or at least I would not expect to see a post there where someone is sharing their creative images for review and comment.
anyway I do hope that all parties can agree that the "community" aspect of the forums is important and continue to have well thought out and meaningful discussions for the betterment of the community.
Regards
Phil
