Are there any building interior space tutorials?

Oh thankd for the list.
Actually I really like the built in sketchy render, thats one of the things that initialy attracted me to SU. The hand drawn of sketchy look.
But I was hoping for something that would still help to make glass and mirrors look good and lights (or mock lights) shine on the wall as they often do in interiors.
To be honest at this time I think I will let our 3d department focus on the wizban renders with max etc.

about placing furniture?
trimming or doing wood work?
setting doors and openings?

Well I am a newbee, so I'm still learning the ropes day by day. Maybe I will post a seperate post on those general stuff.
What I was very curious about was :
- How do you work on the interior of the model if its encased inside wall/floors and ceilings.
- Is it possible to render mirrors and glass in the SU built in render styles ( cos i love that sketchy look).
- If there are no spot lights and strip lights in SU then how does one make the interior illumination look convincing in the sketchy render styles.

Let's go inyour order of questions then:
- You can always hide or delete (temporarily) those faces (ceilings, walls etcร). But also there is the section cut possibility that enables you to "hide" these things inn SU and work inside the model (to read more about this, click here)
2-3 No. SU only knows of light (sun) on or off. no reflections, no additional lights - nothing.
In a "sketchy style" you would not even need it, I guess...
But there are external rendering programs that can do it for you - have a look at this link!And first of all: have fun!

ok... mirrors...
this is what I do...
1 find the the view reflection in su and take a rendering picture of it.
2then save that as a jpg and make it the material of the glass in the mirror, remember it has to be the angle of the view reversed in the mirror.

Even though SU has no provisions for lighting it's possible to achieve some lighting effects that are quite suitable and in keeping with the sketchy style rendering:

For interiors it is better to adjust your light dark settings (in the shadow dialogue) -- increase the dark setting, slide it to the right to increase the ambient light. Try a setting of 50 for light, 80 or 90 for dark. You can set the sun position high and get fairly even lighting (if you turn shadows off make sure use sun for shading is checked).

Make your ceilings a separate group then turn off cast shadows in entity info. Or another way - paint the topside of the ceiling material with a transparent color -- desaturate the color and turn transparency all the way down to zero. This way (in conjunction with the light/dark settings) your ceilings won't go dark and you will not get shadows from the ceiling.

Use Photoshop to simulate pools of light or downlights by making an adjustment layer, then turning down the brightness. Next paint the adjusment layer mask with a black brush to restore the light values in areas where light would fall.

basic PNG texture... pretty neat.. u can also change the colour! -
