SketchUp - Taking time out to think?

Hi,
Whilst working in SketchUp over the last few weeks I have been experiencing some weird behaviour.
I can be working away when for no obvious reason the screen "locks" and the hour glass cursor appears.
Similar to how SketchUp behaves when exporting a 2D image.
It is as if the program has decided that I have taken an action that requires it to do some serious calculations.
This is happening every five or ten minutes and each "lock-up" can last for about 10-30 seconds.
It then returns to normal.
The complexity of the scene is not the problem. (It's a simple scene).
I have the latest version of SketchUp.
I have the latest certified graphic drivers.
I have a decent spec computer systemDoes anyone have any ideas on this.
It is starting to irritate me like mad!Regards

The hourglass thing is 'autosave', in preferences you can disable it from autosaving.

I have some excessively long autosave times when using very detailed files and also when working on a slow network connection inside our office. Turning it off or down to 15 minutes has kept me sane Smile

Hi,
I am also working in an office and control of my workstation is mostly in the hands of the IT guys.
However, lots of good tips there concerning Defender which I will look in to with my home computer.
I didn't know it was also capable of "good housekeeping" with regards to redundant files etc. Thanks.It does seem that the autosave feature was the real culprit.
I have altered it to save every 30 minutes.
I always manually save anyway every 10 minutes or so, saving the files with incremental file names (001, 002, etc).
Yes, I could be described as paranoid!Thanks again for all the help offered.

Heh, I've even grown to use my 30 minute autosaves to alert me to how long I've been working at a model.
