I've been using SU for about 6 months now, Podium and Kerky for about 2 months. Quite addicting. I love seeing all those renderings with post processing (solo, kwistenbiebel, Ross Macintosh, tomsdesk, just to mention a few), so many different and wonderful styles, so I got my own copy of CS3 Extended. The problem is that I have zero, nada, photoshop experience, I do have about 20hrs of training on dvd that I'm hoping to be able to dive into once work slows down a little. My question is does anyone have a cool tip or trick they're willing to share that a total newbie such as myself can do right out the box? Thanks.

BTW, thanks to Coen and all the moderaters for setting up this new forum.

      Mike

LAYERS!!!! Use layers ALOT. Unlike SU layers are your friend. I have been using photoshop for a while now and I feel I have become quite good with it, although I would not concider myself an expert like many of the individuals here. It took me awhile to get used to not using layers in SU. In photoshop your layer pallet could get quite large but if you name things properly its easy to manage. You can lock layers, group layers, Make global adjusments to certain layers. etc. I cant express enough MAKE LAYERS YOUR FRIEND and they will be frendly back to you.

Most importantly remember photoshop can be a very complex program and it takes patience to learn but it is well worth it in the end.

I agree... layers. And layer sets.

As for images from SU, export larger than the size you are going to print/post and then resize. Your images will be much more clear.
