Tool to automatically create ifcSpaces ?
-
Hi everyone, I just wondered if anyone had come across a plugin that would automatically generate volumes from a model corresponding to the "voids" left between object that represent wall, floors and ceilings for example such that we could classify them as ifcSpace objects.
Currently we do this by hand as it were, which for small projects is not so much trouble, but for larger ones, and ones with relatively complex room shapes for exemple, it's a bit of a hassle...
Any ideas ?Thanks in advance

There are several tools available that can automatically create IFC spaces within a building model. These tools can be used to quickly and accurately define the spaces within a building, which can be useful for various purposes such as energy analysis, building management, and facility planning. One example of a tool that can create IFC spaces is Solibri Model Checker (SMC). SMC is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) quality assurance and control software that can identify and classify spaces within a building model based on their size, shape, and location. It can also automatically create space boundaries based on the geometry of the building model, and assign space names based on predefined rules. Another example is the Revit software, which is a BIM software developed by Autodesk. Revit includes a feature called "Space Separation Lines" that allows users to define the boundaries of spaces within a building model. Users can draw space separation lines in the 3D model view, or create them automatically using the "Automatic Separation Lines" tool. This tool can create space separation lines based on the geometry of the building model and the type of space (e.g., office, conference room, etc.). There are also other tools available that can create IFC spaces, such as ArchiCAD and Allplan. These tools may have different features and capabilities, so it is important to evaluate the needs of the project and choose the tool that is most suitable.
