      Hi guys!

      I'm with a team building an asset library app. I know there are many asset providers out there already but I think there's room for a better product. For instance, many of them don't have an app/plugin that does the tedious work of downloading and creating materials. Not to mention, assets quality isn't always what it should be.

      We're in the early stages of our service. We are looking to learn more about how we can help architectural visualizers beat those crazy deadlines, and more specifically, we'd like to learn about assets. As an architectural visualizer freelancing or working at a studio, you probably purchase assets to populate scenes.

      What sort of assets do you guys often find yourselves in need of?

      What sort of assets do you most often purchase?

      Some examples: very specific harder to find and unique assets, designer items, scene fillers, assets that are harder to model, scanned organic assets, materials etc.

      I'm very curious about your opinions.

        I mainly purchase models from 3dsky. I render mainly interiors so a lot of bedding, sofas, and the occasional rug. Other than that, I am always on the hunt for nice wood materials.

          The 3D Warehouse does have some good assets. You can often get respectable components from the manufacturers. For the most part I prefer to make my own, though. That way I have control over the quality and ease of use. I find it's often faster to make my own than it is to fix problems with components I would get from other sources. As for textures, there are some good sources like Arroway and others. For wood grain materials I generally make my own.

            There are a ton of assets available from a ton of places out there but good skp formatted assets are hard to find, the 3D warehouse does not normally have good enough quality for my needs. So it's normally a case of finding what I need , downloading and converting. Skimp and Transmutr work great when the downloaded asset is an obj or fbx but what if it's .max, .c4d?

            There is a service many folk need, converting from these formats to skp IMO.

                This post is old, but I like Mr. Cutout too, Of course they are more for rendering and not models.

                OK for street scenes but, REALLY hard though to find bland people just standing, maybe talking, when you need only one or two in a residential rendering for scale. (if you pay you get better poses it seems). So many are distracting, inappropriately dressed, doing distracting actions or poses. One thing I like is all the search filters for lighting etc. Quality is great IMO.
