How to get near and far clipping plane of view?
These values are displayed in the Camera dialog box.

If impossible to get the exact values, then how to calculate these values approximately?

When a new model is opened, turn ON the fog (via the "Fog" toolwindow.)
      Then display the model's RenderingOptions...

..you'll see that at that time, the clipping planes equal the Fog distances.

But then they go out of sync, if you zoom in / out, or drag the sliders in the "Fog" toolwindow.

So I've accidentally stumbled upon this awesome thing.
I typed the above mentioned command into the ruby console of SU2017.
            And guess what?

There's a new checkbox. It allows you to adjust your near and far clipping planes. 😮

            Clipping plane issue solved

After years and years of toiling and sighing, they allow you to solve this issue for your models and they don't even mention it in the release notes...

That dialog is for internal debug purposes. It's not an end-user feature.

The actual clipping of your models is not an end-user feature either... But does the new existence of this checkbox mean that a plugin could be written that uses this plugin? Or are the values in this camera settings window not approachable through ruby?

Well obviously the answer to my previous post here is yes. But it took a few years...

Pyroluna, did you know that there's already a free plugin by S4U to do this?

And it's not quite true that it took a few years. The legacy ThomThom's Camera Tools ( https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=43290 ) provide you instant (Camrea > Advanced) access to the debug dialogue. This plugin is very old but only with SketchUp 2017+ we have FORCE button.
May the Force be with us!
