My daughter is starting her sophomore year in college this August and will be in a room by herself and needs a printer. Here are a couple I am looking at:

      Canon PIXMA iP110
      https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/printers/inkjet-single-function/ip-series/ip110

      Epson WorkForce WF-100 Mobile Printer
      https://epson.com/For-Work/Printers/Inkjet/Epson-WorkForce-WF-100-Mobile-Printer/p/C11CE05201

      Comments?
Any others that might be better?

She has a Microsoft Surface Pro PC.

      Thanks.

I would look at the price for new ink for the different brands. That is what costs.
I would also look for one that has separate ink so you can change just the ones that are empty.

Have had good luck with Canon and Epson printers. Agree with Pixero , I think ink cost would drive the choice. You can bankrupt yourself keeping printers in ink.

Have you thought about a laser color printer too?

Maybe look at a multi-function machine if she will need to do any scanning too. I've always had good luck with Brother printers and LD Products ink (ldproducts.com).

                  Eric. . .Just my 2c.

I have an HP printer and I pay a few bucks a month for an ink replacement service. They charge based on how many pages are printed per month. Since I don't print much I only pay 3 bucks a month and HP monitors my use and sends me replacement cartridges when I need them. It's kinda like Ink Insurance I guess. would think the other printer companies have similar programs, but i don't know. I keep everything in OneNote and PDF so I don't have to print that much.

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy

                    How about something like this.
                    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?st=ink+tank+printer&_dyncharset=UTF-8&id=pcat17071&type=page&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=&sp=&qp=&list=n&af=true&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960&keys=keys

I have HP InkTank and ink is a great deal on that kind of printers.
