Looking for suggestions on some software

Here's a thing I've been thinking about, and that's how to manage my projects.
See, on most projects, I've got
Model files (sketchup, blender)
Model files for manipulation (uvmapping, conversion for programs like renderers etc)
References (pureref collections, etc)
Artwork (test renders, material files)
Renders (render engines, materials in work)
Notes (atm notepad plus)And its messy.
Been wondering, is there a project management program around that I could collect all these into 1 file as it were, and use that?
Thinking I open said program, select the project I want to work on, it then opens modeler + file, reference files, etc, as if Ive just taken a folder off the shelf....

Perhaps this is what Trimble Connect does? (Shipped with SU Pro but never looked into it myself)

I have not used Trimble Connect (TC) either, so I may be way off target here. AFAIK TC is a cloud based service to interface / exchange project models with other consultants (persons). Being able to merge information from various sources is one of the features?
What I understand the OP wants is something that is a local machine install and will organize / tag information and make it more accessible (and organized).

As juju mentioned, TC is cloud based and can be used for collaborative work but also as a stand alone storage facility. I think a user would still have to set up a file/folder system to suit their individual needs on the TC platform. Having said that, this would be no different to designing a file/folder workflow on a local PC/Mac?
One avenue to explore is using a spreadsheet containing 'Hyperlinks' to all the different files - new file, add a Hyperlink, updated file - overwrite the current Hyperlink. A quick look at the 'net shows that multiple Hyperlinks can be opened with one click although I didn't try this. I use OpenOffice and just did a quick experiment with inserting one Hyperlink, to a SU model, into a spreadsheet. Just clicked and the model opened.
